5 Solar Energy Habits to Maximize Household Savings | PHILERGY German Solar

PHILERGY German Solar for homes and businesses - High quality installer for solar power systems and top rated panel packages for residential, commercial and industrial roofs in the Philippines

Metro Manila, Philippines – You have made the smart decision by having the highest quality German solar system installed for your home and now you need to maximise that investment. Solar power is one of the best ways to reduce your electricity bill and your carbon footprint. Follow these tips to get the most out of your own German solar system.

  1. Use the highest electricity-draining appliances when the sun is at its peak. Chores like doing the laundry uses the biggest energy-guzzling appliances (washing machines, clothes iron, dryer). They're especially hungry on your home's power load if you have them running at the same time. For this reason, you should use energy-hungry appliances when sunlight is at its peak so that they run as efficiently as possible and use as much of the clean and free solar energy generated by your German solar system.

  2. Upgrade to energy-efficient appliances and fixtures. An old refrigerator, electric cooktop, washing machine, dryer, and even incandescent and fluorescent lights can all push past your solar energy system's capacity and draw from the grid. Inverter appliances and LED bulbs are more energy-efficient and could be cheaper in the long run.

  3. Save more by selling your excess solar energy. The Philippines is one of the first countries in Asia that incentivizes the use of renewable energy. Under RE 9513, net metering allows homes and businesses with grid-tied solar systems to automatically sell excess solar energy back to the distribution utility (DU) - for example, Meralco - in exchange for peso credits on your bill. These credits can then be used at the end of each month to pay for and decrease charges on your overall electric bill. Essentially, the net metering scheme will give you a bill equal to your consumed energy from Meralco, minus your earned peso credits from excess energy sold—lowering your bill even further!

  4. Watch your roof for shade and debris. Now that you have solar panels installed, you should ensure that your roof is maintained. Debris may accumulate and surrounding tree branches could cast some shadow over the panels. You should keep an eye on them before they worsen and compromise the efficiency of your German solar system.

  5. Monitor your system and usage. Make sure your German solar system is operating correctly and learn how your system performs through monitoring. Luckily, every PHILERGY system can be easily monitored through the SMA Energy App. The app will show you the production of your solar PV panels, and you can also find out your energy usage from your DU. Doing this will provide you with valuable insights into your usage habits and the performance of your solar energy system.

It is very important to choose a certified and experienced solar company that can cater to your needs and be supplied with quality components and services to fully enjoy the solar system for over 30 years – because in fact, that is how extensive warranties of a solar system can be!
