Metro Manila, Philippines - The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced in a statement that electricity rates are up again. An increase of P0.0965 per kilowatt-hour to P9.0036 per kWh this August – P0.5969 more since rates first went up in April.
Meralco attributes the increase to a higher transmission charge, generation charge, and charges from independent power producers.
